The day has finally arrived, World of Warcraft fans! The next WoW expansion will be revealed today with a special live-streamed announcement.


Ever since the current World of Warcraft game launched in 2004, the massively-multiplayer online role-playing game has received eight big expansions (and counting).

Long-term fans won't need reminding that the previous expansions were called The Burning Crusade (that one came out in 2007), Wrath of the Lich King (2008), Cataclysm (2010), Mists of Pandaria (2012), Warlords of Draenor (2014), Legion (2016), Battle for Azeroth (2018) and Shadowlands (2020).

Today's announcement will tell us what is next for the game, which is certainly a cause for intrigue and excitement among the game's loyal fanbase. So, how and when can you watch the reveal? Read on to learn all!

When is the WoW expansion reveal?

The WoW expansion reveal will take place on Tuesday 19th April 2022. For fans in the UK, the announcement event will start at 5pm BST.

You will be able to watch the WoW expansion reveal on the game's official YouTube and Twitch channels.

The impending WoW expansion was first mentioned in an official blog post, which read, "With the story in the Shadowlands coming to a conclusion, the time is at hand to get a sneak peek at what’s next for the heroes of Azeroth."

The post continued: "The World of Warcraft development team is excited to share what they’ve been working on, and we invite you to mark your calendars, so you don’t miss a moment."

The next WoW expansion has been rumoured to be called Dragonflight, and this is probably the event that will confirm or deny that speculation.
